Description
In the Burchfield Penney Art Center (Buffalo), Charles Burchfield’s “Turtle-Back Rock” sits in a recreation of the artist’s studio. Burchfield collected this unusual septarian boulder in 1937 for his studio, and it became a personal talisman for the visionary watercolorist. Today the rock and Burchfield’s recreated workspace are on display, offering a glimpse into the fantastical, nature-inspired world of one of Buffalo’s most famed artists
