Description
Commissioned by Samuel Hill, the Maryhill Stonehenge is a full-scale concrete replica of England’s Stonehenge. Dedicated on July 4, 1918, it serves as a memorial to the servicemen of Klickitat County who died in World War I. This was the first monument in the United States to honor those who sacrificed their lives in the Great War. The structure aligns with the sunrise during the summer solstice, echoing the astronomical positioning of the original.
